How to store and serve your truffles

Although truffles are usually filled with dairy, you can leave them out on the counter as long as the room temperature stays around the mid-60s Fahrenheit. It's also important to minimize humidity, as excess moisture can lead to sticky or melted treats. Since truffles are more delicate than unfilled chocolates, they won't remain fresh for as long; it's best to enjoy them within two weeks to a month after they are made.
While serving frozen truffles is not ideal, you can freeze them for up to three months if necessary, provided they are properly packaged. To do this, wrap your truffles in several layers of protection and store them in a zipper bag inside an airtight container.
If you choose to freeze them, be patient when it comes to defrosting. The ideal method is to move them to the refrigerator overnight or for a few hours. After taking them out of the fridge, let them sit for another hour to warm up slightly. This way, when you take a bite, you'll fully appreciate that rich, delicious filling at just the right moment.
