Why you don't need to try Trader Joe's Pumpkin Loaf

If you prefer a strong pumpkin spice flavor in your pumpkin treats, this loaf may not be for you. The Trader Joe's Pumpkin Loaf does highlight the pumpkin taste, but unfortunately, not in a favorable way. As Cheyenne Wiseman points out, the bread was quite dry and surprisingly had a salty, metallic flavor, as if there were clumps of baking soda that hadn’t been properly blended into the batter. To make matters worse, the crunchy sugar and spice topping could have salvaged the lack of spice, but instead, it contributed to a texture reminiscent of a sandy shipwreck. While future batches might correct these issues, for now, it’s best to steer clear of the Pumpkin Loaf and consider making one at home instead.
If you're looking for a dessert that embodies pumpkin, spice, and everything delightful, Wiseman recommends Trader Joe's Pumpkin Spice Mini Sheet Cake. It’s light, moist, and bursting with flavors of pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg (and thankfully, no baking soda). Wiseman particularly enjoys the cream cheese frosting, which adds a tangy, vanilla-forward note that perfectly complements the spiced cake beneath.
