The drink of choice in New Hampshire

According to NIAAA data, residents of New Hampshire have a preference for beer over spirits or wine. In 2021, the state topped the list for the highest beer consumption per capita. The most favored beer in this New England state is Corona Light, a Mexican lager. However, if that brand doesn't appeal to you, New Hampshire boasts 90 independent breweries. One notable craft brewery, Portsmouth Brewery, earned the title of best beer in America in 2007 for its robust imperial stout called "Kate the Great."
While wine may not be as favored as beer, New Hampshire still ranks third in the country for wine consumption per capita, according to NIAAA. The state produces its own wine, cultivating unique grape varieties that thrive in colder climates, such as La Crescent (a white) and Frontenac (a red). Interestingly, New Hampshire's official state drink is apple cider, which is distinctly different from apple juice. The alcoholic version, hard apple cider, is definitely worth sampling at a local cidery.
Despite being far from Mexico, New Hampshire's cocktail of choice is the classic margarita. If you're in the mood for something a bit more adventurous, consider trying one of the unusual cocktails that WOKQ, a local radio station, suggests may have originated in the state. Ideal for a chilly winter evening on the East Coast, "The Farmer's Wife" combines apple cider with caramel-flavored vodka, while "Drunk Rudolph" mixes hot chocolate with a shot of Fireball whisky.
